A modern facelift should never look “pulled”

Face and neck lift surgery is one of the most effective ways to address visible signs of ageing in the face, jawline and neck. At Array on Belfast's Lisburn Road, Consultant Plastic Surgeon Professor Ali Ghanem performs advanced face and neck lift procedures under local anaesthetic, so patients from across Northern Ireland no longer need to travel for expert facial surgery.

A modern facelift isn't about looking tight or "pulled". Professor Ghanem's approach lifts and repositions the deeper tissues of the face and neck, then carefully redrapes the skin, for results that look refreshed rather than operated on. Incisions are carefully placed around the ears and hairline, so scars are discreet once healed.

Our procedures

Face and neck lift procedures available at Array Belfast

01

Mini Face and Neck Lift

Ideal for early signs of ageing in the lower face and upper neck, such as mild jowling and a softening jawline. Using shorter incisions and SMAS plication, the mini lift tightens the deeper tissues with a lighter touch, for subtle, natural results and a shorter recovery. It's best suited to patients with mild to moderate laxity and isn't recommended where there is significant neck heaviness.

02

Mini Total Face Refresh

Combines the mini face and neck lift with additional procedures to refresh the whole face, which may include upper and lower blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), brow repositioning and fat transfer.

03

Deep Plane Face and Neck Lift

The deep plane facelift is one of the most advanced facelift techniques available. Rather than tightening the skin alone, Professor Ghanem lifts and repositions the deeper layers of the face and neck, restoring youthful structure with minimal tension on the skin. It can be particularly effective for:

  • sagging cheeks and jowls;

  • loss of jawline definition;

  • neck laxity;

  • deep nasolabial folds.

Compared with a mini lift, a deep plane lift gives a more defined result, with greater longevity.

04

Deep Plane Total Face Refresh

For the most comprehensive rejuvenation, the deep plane face and neck lift can be combined with eyelid surgery, brow and temple lifting, chin enhancement and fat transfer, treating the face as a whole for balanced, natural results.

Advanced procedures under general anaesthetic: for patients whose surgery needs a general anaesthetic, Professor Ghanem offers a direct pathway to his London clinic, so no patient is turned away because their case needs a different setting.

Your consultation

Your facelift consultation in Belfast

At your consultation, Professor Ghanem will assess your facial anatomy, skin quality and ageing changes, and talk through your goals. Bringing photographs of yourself from 10 to 15 years ago can help identify the features you'd like to restore.

You'll then receive a personalised written treatment plan, setting out your options, what each will and won't achieve, the risks and the costs. We'll never pressure you to proceed, and if surgery isn't right for you, we'll tell you.

Recovery

Facelift recovery

Your face and neck lift is performed under local anaesthetic as a day case, so you can recover at home. A typical recovery looks like this:

  1. First few days

    Swelling and bruising are normal. Gentle walking is encouraged.

  2. Weeks 1–2

    Bruising and swelling begin to settle, and many patients return to everyday activities.

  3. Weeks 3–6

    Most visible signs of surgery fade as your face continues to settle.

  4. Weeks 6–8 onwards

    Your results become increasingly apparent and continue to refine over the following months.

You'll have scheduled reviews throughout your first year, and our team is available if you have any concerns during your recovery.

Your results

Long-lasting, natural results

A face and neck lift can restore definition to the jawline, reduce jowls and improve the neck, while keeping you looking like yourself. Results are long-lasting, and although natural ageing continues, many patients continue to look younger than they would have without surgery.

Many patients maintain their results with skin treatments, medical-grade skincare and laser therapies available at Array.

Individual results vary.
